Mozambique

Elwyn and Liz Williams

In July 2005, we moved to the town of Chimoio in Mozambique to work as Actionoverseas missionaries and we gladly accepted the call of God. We had previously pastored a number of Apostolic Churches in the north of England and Scotland as well as being missionaries in Brazil.

Background

Actionoverseas have been working in Mozambique since 1996 when Jerry and Vanessa Broderick pioneered the work here. Sadly, after ten months, Jerry died of malaria.

Two years later in 1998, Stuart and Sandra Wood along with Mark and Julie Andrews moved from the UK to continue the work. Thanks to their efforts, there are now 80 churches in Mozambique which are attended by over 300 people. The Woods family returned to the UK in July 2005 while Mark and Julie Andrews left in August 2006.

What we are doing

Our work takes us to the central four provinces of Manica, Sofala, Tete and Zambezia. This is an area about the size of the UK.

The focus of our work has been in training and we see the spiritual growth in many of the leaders. This has led to the ordination of Pastors, Elders, Deacons and Deaconesses which is giving the indigenous people more local ownership of the churches.

The result has been that some churches are beginning to see a greater need to go out and plant seed themselves.

Please pray for:

•Continued development of Church Leaders.
•Expansion of the Church Planting programme.
•Increased training in Children and Youth work.
