Short-term mission trip to the Sudan
Peter Matheson has been part funded by ActionOverseas for a short-term mission trip to the Sudan. This sponsorship has been helped by ActionOverseas’ desire to touch unreached people groups.
Peter writes, ‘I had a week in Nairobi for my orientation at the SIM Sudan office and then flew up here just over a week ago. The compound I’m staying on is about 10 minutes walk from the banks of the White Nile. The town has a couple of big markets and a busy riverfront with the Nile being the major route for transporting people and goods up from the capital of the South, Juba and Khartoum in the North. The town itself is a mixture of mostly the Shilluk, Dinka and Nuer tribes. On Sundays I’ve been going to the local congregation of the Sudan Interior Church where I get the opportunity to practice some of my Arabic with some of the young guys there at lunch afterwards. Currently, I’m really just trying to focus on my Arabic learning’.
