Leaders with optimism

Carmarthen intern James Cook travelled to Warsaw with Mark Andrews and East Europe Missioner Nigel Bainbridge in March and during the visit they met with some key Pastors who are working to make a difference in Poland.

Bishop Marek, leader of the Polish Pentecostal Church, invited the AO team to meet his national leadership team. They have a big vision and big energy! There are around 950 towns and cities in Poland. Around 700 of these towns and villages have no evangelical witness. Their vision is for ‘700 towns’ to see new churches. Pray for their church planting director, Slawek (photo), and the whole movement as they target these towns.

During our visit to Poland, Pastor Marian from Poznan, and Pastor Andrew from Warsaw both served as trainee Catholic priests. Gospel-truth arrested them and they now serve growing evangelical congregations. Marian encouraged us with “prayer is always the first step”. His enthusiasm was infectious. Andrew is a cheerful leader. His congregation is growing –including recently baptising some Iranians. Marian also spoke wistfully about a wonderful holiday in the UK – in Llanelli…

The AO team were warmly welcomed to a home group in Warsaw. Four families meet in a flat on the outskirts of Warsaw. All were Ukrainians, many having fled from the war zone around Donetsk in SE Ukraine. James Cook led a Bible study and there was a great time of prayer. Please pray that links with this group grow to a new level.
